Be + verb-ing

Build the Present Progressive with a present form of be plus verb-ing: I am working, she is reading, and they are waiting. The form of be agrees with the subject; the main verb always uses -ing.

Most verbs simply add -ing. Drop a final silent e in make–making, double the final consonant in run–running, and change ie to y in lie–lying. For negatives, put not after be. For questions, move be before the subject.

Use this tense for an action happening now or around now and for a temporary situation: He is talking on the phone. I am staying with friends this week.
