Affirmative forms

Use the base form of the verb with I, you, we, and they: I work, you study, we live, and they play. With he, she, it, or one singular noun, add the third-person singular ending: he works, she studies, it rains.

Most verbs simply add -s. Add -es after endings such as -s, -sh, -ch, -x, and -o: passes, washes, watches, fixes, and goes. When a verb ends in consonant + y, change y to i and add -es: study becomes studies.

Have and do are common irregular forms: she has and he does. The verb be uses am, is, and are. Check the subject before choosing the verb form, especially when another noun appears between the subject and verb.
