Do and does
Use do and does to build Simple Present questions and negatives with ordinary verbs. Use do with I, you, we, and they, and does with he, she, it, or one singular noun: Do they work here? Does she live nearby?
After do or does, the main verb returns to its base form. Say Does he work? rather than Does he works? For negatives, place not after the auxiliary: I do not know, she does not drive. In conversation, don't and doesn't are normal.
Short answers repeat the auxiliary: Yes, I do. No, he doesn't. A question word comes before the auxiliary: Where do you live? Why does she study English?
